Global Trade in Services

All commercial services are classified into 3 categories: transport, travel, and other services. The transport sector covers all the transportation services such as by sea, air, and land (internal waterways such as lakes and rivers, rail transport, truck transport, oil pipelines and natural gas pipelines).

Travel services are composed of the following sub-categories: goods and services acquired by business travelers such as food and lodging accommodations, beverages and entertainment. For personal travelers, these are the goods and services “consumed” such as those for health (services rendered by doctors, nurses, and other health professionals involved in “medical tourism” or obtaining medical treatment abroad), educational (exchange students), and tourism (tourist spots, vacation holidays, souvenirs, and gift items). The  other services category includes services related to communications, mining, financial (sub-categories are banking, insurance, and securities), engineering, architectural, computer and information, news agency reporting, public relations, legal, advertising, marketing, management consulting, accounting, medical transcription, and licensing.
